When things between her and her long time boyfriend unravel, she becomes stuck in a downward spiral of emotion. Finally, opening her eyes to the fact that she may have given up more than she ever could have imagined in this relationship. She finds herself struggling to keep her head above water.
Enter April’s next door neighbor— Jared Hoffman. He’s her complete opposite. A high school drop out who was forced to take over his parent’s business after their untimely death. It’s no surprise this tragedy affected him greatly, causing him to recede almost completely from society.
But he has one secret. A secret he’s been carrying around for years.
What happens when their worlds collide? Can an old friendship be the one thing that brings these two back to life?

A new adult love story filled with drama, sex, death, and the complications of all of the above.

My review of Discovering April
First I have to say I truly loved this book. It is well written and the characters are well developed and easy to relate too. I mean who among us hasn't been hurt by someone we love?
April is a college student struggling to pay her bills and maintain a relationship with her boyfriend Hunter.
Hunter is pretty wealthy and a football player and a jerk.  April's parent's have moved to Florida and left their house to April.
April works part time at the local coffee shop, and does not make much money as a matter of fact most of the time doesn't even have food in her refrigerator.  April is pretty devastated when she finds out Hunter is cheating on her.  Her world comes crashing down  around her and she finds herself at a loss when she and Hunter break up.  She is in a pretty bad way, that is when her life long friend and neighbor Jared steps in and decides to help snap her out of the funk she is in.  Jared challenges her, makes her think and do things that in the past she would have done without thinking about it.  April didn't realize how much of herself she had lost by shaping her life and her future around Hunter.  Now with Jared's help she is finally beginning to find herself again.
Jared has been in love with April all of his life.  He has watched her his entire life,  he could not just sit back and watch her suffer any longer.  Slowly as April becomes the April he once knew, he tells her that he loves her, but he doesn't want to be the rebound guy.
Jared and April are the perfect couple, most of his friends like her and she fits right in.  Except for Jared's friend Eric who for some reason seems to hate April.  Just as April and Jared begin to get closer and tragedy strikes. April is tested in the worst way anyone could imagine when she and Jared are hit my a truck while out on his motorcycle.

Excerpt:

“Why, Jared Hoffman, do you not want this?” I tease, slowly unbuttoning his shirt.
He smiles, his hands bracing themselves on the bed at either side of my head. “I didn’t say that... it’s just I don’t want to rush anything.”
Jared’s shirt falls open when I finally reach the last button. His perfect abs are shadowed and defined by the moonlight. My eyes start up his chest. “Rush?” I whisper softly as my hands graze their way up his biceps that frame my face. “Jare… this has been seven long years in the making. I think we’ve waited long enough.”
He pauses for a second. I hear his breath hitch in his throat as his dark eyes study my face. For some reason, I’m surprised when I feel Jared’s lips on mine. The passion between us is renewed at my admission. It’s my turn to moan against his lips. My legs automatically slide up and down his, causing my dress to hike up slightly before my legs wrap themselves around his waist. His hands make their way up my side slowly as if ingraining into memory the curve of my body. My hands have automatically found their way to his belt. I slip my fingers through it and release the hook, swinging it open. Before I know it, I’m unbuttoning his jeans. That’s when I feel his hands squeeze me tight. His lips leave mine for the first time since I spoke, and I feel them slowly trace their way down my neck. My fists clench against the skin on his waist.
“Oh, Jared,” I groan.
His body freezes above me for a fraction of a second. His head lifts out of the crook of my neck to meet my eyes again.
“Do you know how long I’ve waited to hear you call my name like that?” he whispers.
My hands find their way to his face and mingle with his hair. “There’s more where that came from.” I shoot him a sexy smirk before pulling his lips back to mine.

 In High Cotton

In High Cotton is the third book in the Granny Series.

 Overview
When a tree topples over onto Miss Lillian’s prized 1948 Tucker Torpedo, the grannies are once again scrambling for money and keeping Lil in the dark. Lucky for them, they have their choice of two cases, but which to take—a suspected art forgery or mysteriously disappearing trash from the county landfill?

As usual, things aren’t exactly as they first seem, and the grannies soon find themselves going undercover and dumpster diving to track down both bad guys. And now that Lil has scored an unexpected early release from prison, the grannies have more at stake than ever.

Will they find the culprits in time to repair the Tucker before Lil gets home, or will she arrive and unravel their lies?

My review:
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book. The grannies crack me up and remind me of some people I know. I love how each granny has a very distinct personality they are a diverse group yet some how they meld together really well. I still can not pick a favorite granny, I love them all for different reasons.
I love how resourceful Maggie is. That Granny can fix anything.  And who knew how much of a gymnast/ dancer Sera would turn out to be? I love Abby Ruth's fire and spunk. I love that Lil is classy even in prison.
This book is the third in the series and had me turning the pages and trying to keep up with these busy grannies.  In this book the Grannies have taken on two cases. One brought to them by Hollis and one they take on to prove to Colton that they did not sell the gift that he gave them. Lil has her own troubles in prison to deal with while the other Grannies are off to solve their cases. On top of all of that Sera, Maggie and Addy Ruth are trying to fix Lil's beloved car that was damaged during a storm. I will not go into detail since I hate spoilers, I will say that this book moves at a fast pace and is full of humor and is  a well written mystery.
The characters are well developed and the scenes are always detailed enough to make you feel as if you are right there with the Grannies.
This book and the entire series is perfect for people who love a good mystery laced with humor with well developed characters and scenes.  And trust  me these Grannies will have you laughing and they will exhaust you, in a good way. Who knew Grannies could be so much fun while getting into so much trouble?

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.  I have to say that I truly enjoyed this book. Ellery Adams is a very skilled story teller and always develops her characters so that the reader can connect on many levels with them.  Ella Mae LaFaye is the main character and even though she has a magical touch, Ellery has written her in a way that makes it easy to see her as just a regular person that you would love to have as a friend or neighbor.
In this book Ella is facing perhaps her biggest challenge to date. She is still trying to deal with her feelings over Hugh leaving her to go search for a way to regain his powers. When she inadvertently adds too much liqueur to her St. Patrick's Day pies causing her customers to become intoxicated, she decides it is time to do something with her broken heart and all the emotions that seem to keep clouding her brain. So she locks the emotions up inside a pie and puts it in the freezer. With that done Ella Mae is starting to regain her rhythm and baking like she never had a broken heart, but all too soon tragedy strikes and she is on the hunt for a murderer. Plus freak storms with hidden symbols in them lead her and her aunts to believe a rogue witch or witches are behind these storms. Ella must find a way to stop these storms and figure out why an innocent human has been killed.
A new man is also in town and he is as hot as Hugh. Just wait until you meet him in the book.
The story is wonderful, the plot keeps you guessing and the ending will touch your heart and leave you wanting the next book now!
